the cutting of the curls

One day a mom wakes up and knows today is the day. The day the babies curls come off. Some try to prolong the inevitable. I understand. We were at the point of a little blond nest at the back of my son's beautiful blond curls. So today was to be that day.

All my children have worn these PJ's. I love being able to say that. Now as to which child will get to keep them, they get to decide that later.

Baby toes. Yummy.

Now the time has come. No more stalling.

The curl.

Oh, please don't give me those eyes!
And so it is done.

I feel the same way.

Yes, we will smile again.
A vintage locket found at my FAVORITE store.

I had been trying to figure out what to put inside this locket. Now I know.
A mother's heart is a bit more sentimental when thinking of the "last times."
This is most likely the last time I will ever cut off those first baby curls. I say almost. We never know God's plan for us. But oh, most likely, yes, the very last time. Okay, I'm gonna cry now.

I am so happy to have this special treasure. When you see me wearing this locket. Remember your own little ones. The curls you get to cut, the firsts and the lasts. Sorry for being so sentimental. I think you understand.

Gee. thanks a lot. now I'm crying. Oh the sentimental rubbish that comes with the "last" (?!) Why do they have to cause your heart to explode so? I write this as my last is crawling between my legs interspersed with times of biting my knee. Oh the sweet irony.

I saved Zeke's curls but have no idea what to do with them. He's still so precious.

I think that kid is even cuter than my own children, lol:-) (no, actually, for real he is) He is soooo handsome! I loved those curls. Now he looks all grown up. Sad days. I love the locket idea so much!

I still have a box with my curls in it! My mom gave it to me. Maybe kind of weird and gross to some, but special to me, because my mom thought of me special enough to keep them. The first time I had my hair highlighted by Jessica, I took it to her and showed her what I wanted my color to look like!
